The city.people.light award is an annual competition which is run in conjunction with the Lighting Urban Community International Association (LUCI). It promotes the use of light in urban development and honors towns or cities that rehumanise the urban environment through the medium of light.

The 2009 winner is...
This year’s international city.people.light award has been won by the city of Jyväskylä, Finland. At the award ceremony, which was held in Gwangju in South Korea on 19 October 2009, representatives from the city were presented with the city.people.light trophy as well as prize money of 10,000 euro.
